摘要:We investigate deformation mechanics of advanced cellular materials, such as water purification materials and impact energy absorption materials. For instance, mechanical model of water purification membranes with a three-dimensional open-cell structure is newly established with finite element method (FEM). In this FEM model, the Kelvin polyhedron (truncated octahedron structure) was used to mimic a three-dimensional open-cell structure. A one-unit cell based on this structure was created, and a periodical boundary condition was employed for the FEM computation. The FEM model could reproduce the overall elastoplastic deformation behavior of the porous membrane and microscopic structure in the membrane, such as pore growth due to large tensile deformation, resulting in an increase in water permeability. This will provide useful insight into the fabrication of porous membranes and reliable operation of water purification.
简介:I obtained my Ph.D. degeree in Feb. 2003 at Aoyama Gakuin University and served as the postdoctoral research fellow at Aoyama Gakuin University from Apr. 2006 to Dec. 2006. Then, I was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Osaka University and then moved to Department of Precision Mechanics, Chuo University, serving as an Associate Professor till now.
My research project includes novel materials design for addressing challenges in energy, environment and micromechanics/nanomechanics, and achieving an understanding of mechanical behaviors of engineered and advanced materials. Recent project includes the exploration of nanoporous materials for use in water purification/desalination, design of nanomaterial with self-assembled structure, and non-destructive evaluation (NDE) for fatigue, creep and environmentally assisted fracture of structural materials.
I have published 80+ peer-reviewed international articles in TOP journals including Diamond and related materials, Proceedings of the Royal Society A: Mathematical, Physical and Engineering, Acta Materialia, Thin Solid Films, Materials Science and Engineering: A, Materials Chemistry and Physics, etc. I am a member of Materials Research Society (MRS), American Society of Mechanical Engineering (ASME), Japanese Society of Mechanical Engineering (JSME), Japanese Society of Materials Science (JSMS), Japanese Society of Non-Destructive Inspection (JSNDI). My research has been honored by several academic societies, e.g. Best Paper Award from JSNDI (May. 2006), Best Paper Award from JSMS (May. 2006), Student Award from Acoustic Emission Working Group USA (AEWG49) (Jun. 2006), and 60th Anniversary Best Paper Award from JSNDI etc.
